"(in) words of Rosaline"

Jan 8th, 1999

by Yvonne Chia

I never dare to kiss
the lips of gold
or to touch red roses
heart soften with the taste of blood
torn from the flesh
drawn by a blade of passion
of the unrequited love
the pond for where I drown
in my own sorrow
this stupidity
unforgiving by Aphrodite
only mock by pity
and a crowd of laughter
piercing an announcement
of my death
a comic, not of the tragic
my life unforeseen by
the hearts of young lovers
in thy name of Romeo and Juliet
Romeo my love, Juliet my foe
my death is the weakness of my heart.

tea leaf

Jan 31 ... year unknown

beggars, street filled
with thought of wishes
among the year of the
blink chicken

superstitious smells
of three names burnt
yellow ocher incenses

dates written on decorative papers
made for the immortal skies

the old ladies only explained in tongues

"pick only the red ones,
place them in water, and
wipe facial expression clear."
